A MAZE. / Berlin brings together international independent game developers, digital creatives and game enthusiast in Berlin. A MAZE. / Berlin is also a public festival with an mind-blowing music lineup, an hand selected exhibition of experimental independent videogames, virtual reality experiences and interactive installations.

A MAZE. / Berlin is an unique and cultural investigating international platform for games and playful media that invites professionals and creatives from various fields to exchange their knowledge and visions, presenting their projects, playing, making contacts to collaborate on future projects.
A MAZE. / Berlin represents games beyond the mainstream and celebrates the art-form and not the product.

Search and Play

Artistic Games and Playful Media are often off the mainstream and allow for different experiences with new and playful views, often not for entertainment only. Technology is used as playground for artistic expression and experimental interaction with audiences interested in critical reflection and playful interaction. Discover virtual reality experiences, local multiplayer games, interactive installations and many more of this versatile art form.

The public exhibition consists of “The other A MAZE. selection”, The Brain - Playful installation, Pop Up Games, Open Screens, Student Showcase, Indie Arena, More VR selection, Local Multiplayer Picnic, BAMBAMBAM Workshop and the 20 nominees of the A MAZE. Awards 2015.

Talks, Workshops (Neue Heimat / Ambulatorium)

Interaction is not only about presentation but also about sharing, learning, and exchanging: Invited artists will teach best practices in technology and creativity for artistic and media practices. Focusing on the convergence of digital art, experimentations and games, the talks and workshops provide the artists and developers the opportunity to present projects, artists philosophies as well as discuss and reflect upon them with audience members. Follow all talks on Voice Republic.

A MAZE. / Berlin is dedicated to providing a harassment-free social experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age, religion or game preferences. We do not tolerate harassment of participants in any form. Anyone violating these rules will be expelled from the festival at the discretion of the organisers.

Harassment includes verbal comments that reinforce social structures of domination related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age, religion, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or games, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention. Participants asked to stop any harassing behaviour are expected to comply immediately.

If a participant engages in harassing behaviour, the organisers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from the festival with no refund. If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of festival staff immediately.

The festival staff will be happy to help participants contact security or police, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the event. We value your attendance.

We expect participants to follow these rules at all our venues and social events.
